Opening Keynote Confirmed!

We are thrilled to announce that NBC10’s meteorologist, Brittney Shipp, will be an opening speaker at GETT 2019.

Brittney returned to NBC10 after spending two years as a Chief Meteorologist at KRON-TV in the San Francisco Bay Area.  She is excited to be back working in the Greater Philadelphia area and make an impact on the community.

“I love the challenge the Philadelphia, New Jersey & Delaware markets present,” she said. “You get a little bit of everything- from snowstorms, severe thunderstorms even hurricanes and tornadoes. It’s an exciting place to forecast as a meteorologist. Most importantly, you have a chance to inform viewers with life-saving information. I am passionate about keeping everyone as safe as possible when severe weather is moving in.”

The most memorable weather event that Brittney covered was the winter of 2013-2014 in Philadelphia. It was the second snowiest winter ever recorded, tracking almost 68 inches of snowfall at Philadelphia International Airport.

An Emmy®-nominated journalist, Brittney earned a bachelor’s degree in International Development Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles. She has also earned a Certificate of Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University. Having combined her passion for children’s education and meteorology, Brittney wrote and published the children’s book, The Meteorologist in Me.

Prior to retuning to NBC10, Brittney worked as a morning weekday weather reporter/features reporter at KYMA-NBC in Yuma Arizona. She then went on to work at KTVK-3TV In Phoenix, Ariz., where she was a weekend meteorologist and special assignment reporter.  Brittney has worked as a fill in weather anchor for four national morning shows: NBC’s Early Today, and MSNBC’s Morning Joe, First Look, and Way Too Early.

Brittney is passionate about educational school visits, diversity in children’s literature, and bridging the gender gap in STEM careers. Through school visits, mentoring, and volunteering, Brittney is dedicated to energizing young girls and students to understand weather and science-related careers.

When Brittney is not forecasting the weather, she enjoys traveling, golfing, and sampling new recipes.

We cannot wait to have Brittney Shipp join us on March 23rd.
